How much do you want to spend?

Your budget will definitely play a major role in the kind of kitchen sink faucet that you choose.

As the years have passed, manufacturers have started creating many, many different models and varieties and styles of kitchen faucets. The choices are practically limitless and overwhelming.

You can buy a really cheap faucet or you can buy a really expensive one. It is all up to you.

Think of two things. How much can your wallet bear? Please don't exceed your limits. It might be tempting to buy a faucet beyond your means because it looks good, but there are other places you can spend you money on. Yes, the faucet models look enticing and offer all kinds of functionality. But you should stick to the basics if that is all that you can afford.

If you do have the money to spare, then consider getting one on the higher end. You can get all kinds of fancy designs with all kinds of accessories. There are high spouted ones, with a sprayer, with a soap dispenser, with hold and cold water dispensers, with one or two handles, with water filters. They come in stainless steel, oil rubbed bronze, copper and other finishes. The choices are limitless. Have fun choosing your kitchen sink faucet.

What is the décor of the rest of the kitchen?

It is up to you and your family to decide what function you want the kitchen sink faucet to play. Do you just want it to provide you with water. Or do you also want it to add value and make a statement?

There is so much more a faucet can do than just give water. You can make a distinctive statement by the kind of kitchen faucet you choose.

Look at the décor of your kitchen. What is the theme? Is it modern or contemporary or rustic? Now think about if you want the faucet to blend in. If you have a definite theme to your kitchen then it probably makes more sense to have the kitchen sink faucet to blend in. This way the theme of your kitchen will be carried through.

If you don't have a theme to your kitchen or if your kitchen just looks too bland right now, consider getting a faucet that will stand out. One that will give a unique, bold look. One that is a show piece in its own right. This is an easy, simple, inexpensive way to enhance the look of your kitchen.

How much do you think you will fill in your sink?

Since you will be using this faucet in your kitchen you have to make sure that you know how you will be using your sink. What is the practice in your home?

Do you rinse the dishes and put them into the dishwasher right away? Or do you let the dishes pile up?

If you do put the dishes into the dishwasher right away then you can get away with the spout of the faucet being of any height. If you buy one with no too much clearance then the disadvantage is that you won't have the luxury of being lazy once in a while. If you have two adjacent sinks, then you might still be able to get away by piling the dishes in the sink and turning the faucet to the other sink.

If you would like to be able to pile dishes, then it is a good idea to look into a kitchen faucet that has a high spout. This way you will get a lot of clearance between the bottom of the sink and the top of the spout.

One other thing to think about is if cook a lot of soups and such that require a lot of water and if you intend to place your dish in the sink to fill water. If you do, then definitely buy a kitchen sink faucet that has a tall, curved neck.

What's the number of holes in your kitchen sink?

You might be tempted to run out and buy a kitchen faucet and get started on your project. But before you do take the time to do your research first.

One of the most important questions you need to answer is the number of holes in your kitchen sink. The reason this is important is because this is what determines the kind of faucet you can buy. Not all faucets will fit in all kitchen sinks. It is imperative that you buy one that is compatible.

If this is a new design project and you don't have an existing kitchen sink and you are starting from square one, then you don't have to worry about anything. You can go ahead and buy your kitchen sink and faucet at one go and make sure that they meet all your requirements and have all the required holes.

If you are replacing an existing faucet, then you have to take special care about this. You want to make sure that the new kitchen sink faucet you choose has the same number of holes as that in your sink.

For example, if you decide you want a faucet and a sprayer and your sink has only two holes then you will have to choose a single handle faucet where the spout and the handle are combined. This way you will use one hole for the faucet and one for the sprayer.
